Windows Updates. This is probably the single most important tip I can give anyone. Make sure your Windows is up to date by clicking on "Windows Update" from your start menu. Be sure to install the "Critical Updates". You should check for updates at least once per week.

backing up data
Regularly back up any important data. Your programs can easily be replaced but your TSP reports cannot! Make sure you regularly back up any important documents, pictures, or any other irreplaceable files. Fastest way is to burn it all onto a CD. Date and label your CD then store it in a safe place.
